The Kent State University women's basketball team revealed its non-league schedule for the 2013-14 season on Friday.
The slate of games includes six at the M.A.C. Center and five road contests.
"The 2013-14 non-conference schedule is an ideal one as it gives our team opportunities to prepare for a competitive Mid-American Conference slate," said Kent State's second-year head coach Danielle O'Banion. "Matchups with multiple American Athletic, Atlantic-10 and Sunbelt teams are chances to measure our progress against peer conferences."
The 2013-14 season will begin with a closed scrimmage against Ashland on Oct. 27, which will be followed by another exhibition against Walsh University on Nov. 6.
Back-to-back home games will open the regular season for the Flashes, when the host Kentucky on Nov. 10 and Duquesne on Nov. 14. Next on the schedule will be KSU's first road game, traveling to Cincinnati on Nov. 17.
"We are excited to have regional rivalry games against Duquesne and Cincinnati back on the schedule," said O'Banion. "Such matchups will continue to appear on our schedule as our players, fans and alumni enjoy 'bragging rights' games."
A five-game road trip will continue, following the Cincinnati game, with the Flashes going to Arkansas State (Nov. 22) and Belmont (Nov. 24), then participating in the David Jones Classic in Houston from Nov. 30 to Dec. 1. The tournament will pit Kent State against Houston and Stephen F. Austin.
The non-conference schedule ends with four consecutive home games: Niagara (Dec. 4), Georgia State (Dec. 8), Massachusetts (Dec. 17) and St. Bonaventure (Dec. 20). Play within the Mid-American Conference will begin after the matchup with the Bonnies.
Kent State's 2013-14 roster will feature six returning letterwinners, along with seven new faces. The program's MAC schedule will be announced later this month.
