Kent State men's basketball opens practice for trip to Bahamas

The Kent State men's basketball team opened practice on Monday at the M.A.C. Center in preparation for their trip to the Bahamas planned for Aug. 18-24.

In total, the Golden Flashes will conduct 10 days of practice with third-year head coach Rob Senderoff before leaving Kent.

Once on the islands of the Bahamas, KSU will play four games against national teams from the country during a seven-game tour played inside the Sir Kendal Isaac Gymnasium.

Kent State will stay at the Atlantis Resort and will spend its off days sightseeing and participating in team-building activities throughout the Caribbean island.

Under NCAA rules, schools are allowed to take an off-season foreign tour once every four years. The Golden Flashes' men's basketball program last traveled to Italy in August of 2009.

The 2013 trip will include the following schedule of games:

• Monday, Aug. 19: vs. Legend All Stars, 7 p.m.

• Tuesday, Aug. 20: vs. Bahamas All Stars, 7 p.m.

• Thursday, Aug. 22: vs. Cybots, 7 p.m.

• Friday, Aug. 23: vs. New Providence, 7 p.m.
