The knee injury Kent State senior offensive lineman Pat McShane suffered last week is not a season-ender.
McShane, one of just two starters returning up front for the Golden Flashes, was carted off the field after a teammate rolled on him from behind during last Thursday's practice. He visited the doctor after the swelling went down earlier this week and received an encouraging report.
"It's not as bad as we thought," said Kent State first-year head coach Paul Haynes. "It's probably as good as it could be."
McShane (Stow/Walsh Jesuit H.S.) started every game at right guard last season for Kent State after transferring from Indiana. He has been moved to left guard this season.
Redshirt freshman Alex Nielsen took the snaps at left guard in Thursday's practice. Haynes, though, did not know when McShane would be cleared to return to action.
"We have no timetable on it, but he'll be good," said Haynes.
