Record-Courier staff report
The Kent State men's and women's basketball teams announced the Mid-American Conference portion of their schedules on Tuesday.
The MAC returns to an 18-game format, which was last used during the 2005-06 season. Each school will play seven teams -- five in division, two cross-division -- twice and the remaining four cross-division teams once. This year's additional cross-divisional matchups were randomly selected by the conference office.
The men's team will begin MAC play at the M.A.C. Center on Jan. 8 against Ohio, while the two teams KSU will play twice from the West Division are Northern Illinois and Central Michigan.
Kent State will host rival Akron on Feb. 1 (Saturday), then will meet in Akron on March 7 or 8.
The women's team will open MAC play on Jan. 4 when the Flashes host Eastern Michigan. The Eagles, along with Ball State, will be the two West teams KSU plays twice. The Flashes will play at Akron on Jan. 18 and host the Zips on March 2.
