Record-Courier staff report

Mogadore junior running back Brandon Berry burst onto the scene this season and rushed for 1,419 yards in 195 carries and scored 18 total touchdowns. Twice he topped the 300-yard mark in a single game, while spending many fourth quarters on the sidelines after helping his Wildcats to comfortable leads.

On Wednesday, Berry (5-foot-9, 175 pounds), along with four of his teammates, was honored as one of the best backs in the state when he was named Third Team All-Ohio in Division VI.

The other four Wildcats standouts were honored as All-Ohio Special Mentions. Those players were senior lineman Kenny Vechik (6-foot-2, 220 pounds), junior kicker Riley Jones (5-9, 155), junior lineman Andy Owens (6-2, 180) and senior linebacker Bryce Huth (5-10, 175).

In Division VII, only one area player was recognized in Windham junior defensive back Jared Taylor.

Taylor was named to the division's All-Ohio Special Mention team.
