AKRON — Demetrius Treadwell did not miss from the floor on his way to a game-high 19 points as Akron defeated Bethune-Cookman 84-56 Saturday night.

Treadwell made all seven field goal attempts, and was 4-of-6 from the line. His 3-pointer at the first-half buzzer helped Akron (3-2) build a 52-21 halftime lead.

Nick Harney scored 15 points, and Deji Ibitayo added 11 for Akron.

Toledo 77, Sam Houston State 61

TOLEDO — J.D. Weatherspoon scored 14 of his career-high 16 points in the second half as Toledo out-lasted Sam Houston State for a 77-61 win Saturday.

Ohio 72, Alabama A&M 47

ATHENS — Maurice Ndour scored 12 points and blocked four shots to pace Ohio over Alabama A&M 72-47 on Saturday. Ndour was joined in double figures for Ohio (7-2) by T.J. Hall and Javarez Willis with 12 points apiece.

No. 22 UMass 80, N. Illinois 54

AMHERST, Mass. — Cady Lalanne scored 16 points to lead UMass, off to the program’s best start since the 1995-96 team started 26-0. Dontel Highsmith led the Huskies (3-5) with 10 points.

Dayton 84, Cent. Michigan 58

DAYTON — Devin Oliver scored 15 points and pulled down nine rebounds to lead Dayton to a dominating 84-58 win over Central Michigan Saturday night.
