Ohio State football lands top linebacker recruit Raekwon McMillan

Record-Courier staff report

The Ohio State football team and head coach Urban Meyer landed a big recruit on Monday when linebacker Raekwon McMillan committed to the Buckeyes.

McMillan, the nation's top-rated linebacker recruit and No. 12 overall recruit in the ESPN 300 rankings, chose Ohio State primarily over Alabama, Clemson and Auburn.

McMillan is from Hinesville, Ga., and measures at 6-foot-2 and 249 pounds.

The commitment from McMillan proves Meyer's continued success in recruiting the Southeast. Meyer's 2013 class included four top recruits from the area and his 2014 class already has two -- McMillan and quarterback Stephen Collier (Leesburg, Ga.).

McMillan joins fellow linebacker recruits Dante Booker Jr. (St. Vincent-St. Mary), Kyle Berger (St. Ignatius) and Sam Hubbard (Cincinnati Moeller).
