MAC Men's Basketball Roundup: Ohio dominates Longwood for easy victory

Ohio 78, Longwood 43

ATHENS -- Nick Kellogg scored 17 points as Ohio defeated Longwood 78-43 Monday night.

Kellogg went 6-of-11 from the floor, including 3-of-5 from beyond the arc, and gathered six rebounds. Ohio (9-3) received support from T.J. Hall with 14 points. Stevie Taylor and Ricardo Johnson both had 11 points and Maurice Ndour chipped in with 10 points and nine boards.

Longwood (5-9) had trouble shooting all night, hitting 31 percent from the field, including just 2-of-12 on 3-pointers. The Lancers were led by Jeylani Dublin's 14 points.

Ohio built a 10-point first-half lead, but Longwood trimmed that to four at intermission at 32-28.

No. 16 Toledo 93, Toledo 83

LAWRENCE, Kan. -- Perry Ellis had 21 points and 11 rebounds, Naadir Tharpe added a career-high 20 points and No. 16 Kansas beat Toledo 93-83 on Monday night for the Rockets' first loss of the season.

Andrew Wiggins also had 20 points and fellow freshman Joel Embiid had 14 points and 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks (9-3), who built a 16-point lead early in the second half.

Toledo (12-1) made one final charge, using some hot outside shooting and sloppiness on the part of Kansas to get within 81-73 on a 3-pointer by Julius Brown with 3:23 left in the game.

James Madison 73, Ball St. 68

HARRISONBURG, Va. -- Charles Cooke scored 20 points and Ron Curry added 17 to help James Madison outlast Ball State 73-68 Monday night.

The Dukes (5-9) closed the first half on an 8-2 run and took their largest lead, 39-27, after a Charles Cooke layup early in the second half.
