Ravenna-Norton girls basketball teams to play in cancer awareness game

Published:

The Ravenna Ravens girls basketball program -- from the bottom all the way to the top -- will participate in a breast cancer awareness game on Jan. 22 when they host the Norton Panthers.

While the featured attraction will be the varsity matchup between Metro Division championship contenders Ravenna and Norton, the two teams will appropriately share the spotlight in an attempt to raise money for the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure.

Money raised from ticket sales, basket raffles, 50-50 drawing and the selling of limited pink T-shirts will all benefit local women of Portage, Summit and Stark County.

For Ravenna, head coach Sonny Tilden said that all of the Ravenna girls basketball teams, down to the fourth grade, will be recognized at the game by being announced before the start of the varsity contest.

The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. JV start and 7:30 p.m. for varsity.
