Staff and wire report

For the second straight year, the spotlight will fall on Kent State's Beauty and the Beast promotion at the M.A.C. Center today.

The "beauty" will be the university's gymnastics team, while the "beast" is the Golden Flashes' wrestling squad.

Both teams will host North Carolina State, with simultaneous action beginning at 2 p.m.

Kent State's gymnastics team, which is ranked No. 21 in the country, is coming off a 2-1 effort on Friday night, defeating Eastern Michigan (194.475-192.750) and George Washington (194.475-193.400), but losing to No. 16 Rutgers (195.250-194.475).

Meanwhile, the KSU wrestling team currently holds a 7-6 record after a fourth-place finish at the Virginia Duals last weekend. The event featured a 27-12 win for the Flashes over No. 22 Bloomsburg, while junior 174-pounder Caleb Marsh and sophomore 133-pounder Mack McGuire each went 4-0 at the duals.
