Hiram College Basketball Roundup: Terrier squads swept by DePauw

MEN

DePauw (Ind.) 84, Hiram71

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Hiram College men’s basketball team fell to host DePauw (Ind.) University 84-71 in a North Coast Athletic Conference game on Saturday.

 DePauw (15-6, 10-4 NCAC) outscored Hiram (5-16, 3-11 NCAC) 12-5 in the first 4:20 of the game, and later went on a 13-0 scoring run to take command. DePauw led 28-11 at the 9:59 and took a 44-31 advantage into halftime.

The Terriers eventually trimmed the lead to 78-71 late in the game, but were held scoreless in the final minute while DePauw added six free throws to seal the victory.

Senior All-NCAC guard Aaron Stefanov (Stow) led Hiram with a game-high 27 points. Josh Edmondson was second with 11 points, and senior forward Chris Zurowski had 10 points and a game-high eight rebounds.

WOMEN

DePauw (Ind.) 74, HIiram 50

GREENCASTLE, Ind. — The Hiram College women’s basketball was defeated by No. 1 nationally ranked DePauw (Ind.) University 74-50 on Saturday in a North Coast Athletic Conference game.

The contest was close in the first 10 minutes of the game, with both teams trading leads. Hiram (5-17, 1-12 NCAC) led by a basket, 11-9, following a 3-pointer by freshman guard Dana Perrotta at the 14:30 mark. DePauw (22-0, 13-0 NCAC) then tied the game and moved ahead as part of a mini 5-0 scoring run, and never trailed in the game again.

DePauw led 43-24 at halftime.

Hiram was led by senior guard Danielle Day with 16 points and 13 rebounds. Freshman guard Kayla Yost added 11 points.
