Toledo dominated the Kent State women's basketball team in all phases of the game Sunday afternoon in rolling to an 83-56 victory over the Golden Flashes at the M.A.C. Center in Kent.
With the win, the Rockets improve to 11-11 overall and 6-5 in the MAC, while Kent State falls to 4-18, 1-10.
The Flashes were within striking distance midway through the first half, trailing by only three at the 9:49 mark. However, the Rockets proceeded to go on an 8-0 run for an 11-point lead and never looked back.
Toledo led 44-25 at intermission and was never challenged in the second half.
Kent State was led in scoring by junior center CiCi Shannon with a career-high 19 points, going 6-for-9 from the field and 7-of-12 at the line. Senior guard Ashley Evans added 16 points, going 3-of-4 from 3-point range, while senior guard Amber Dunlap finished with 12 points.
The Rockets were led by senior guard Janelle Reed-Lewis and freshman guard Elena de Alfredo. Reed-Lewis scored a collegiate-tying best 16 points, while de Alfredo also had a career-high with 15 points. Sophomore guard/forward Ana Capotosto chipped in with 11 points for Toledo, while senior guard Andola Dortch and senior center Brianna Jones had 10 each.
