Kent State baseball voted MAC's best in preseason poll

The Mid-American Conference announced Wednesday that Kent State has been selected to win the Mid-American Conference regular season and tournament championships in 2014, as voted on by all 12 head coaches.

In the preseason poll, the Golden Flashes earned 71 points, with 11 first-place votes, putting them atop the East Division and the conference overall. They were also selected to be MAC Tournament champions with four votes.

Kent State has become the perennial powerhouse in the MAC, winning either the regular season or tournament championship in 13 of the last 14 years. This season the Flashes will look to add to their ring collection behind first-year head coach Jeff Duncan.

The 2014 season begins this Friday when the team plays a three-game series at Arizona.

3. Toledo: 54 points (4)

4. Northern Illinois 43 points (1)

5. Eastern Michigan: 27 points
