OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kent State sophomore Ian Miller went 2-0 on opening day of the 2014 NCAA Championships, which took place Thursday inside Chesapeake Energy Arena. The fourth-seeded Miller (28-4) topped Edinboro's Johnny Greisheimer 8-4, then defeated No. 13 seed Dylan Alton of Penn State 4-1.
Miller (157) needs one more win to earn All-American honors. He will battle No. 5 seed Isaac Jordan (31-5) of Wisconsin in the quarterfinals today.
Sophomores Michael DePalma and Mack McGuire and junior Caleb Marsh all dropped their opening-round matches and will compete in the consolation bracket Thursday night.
