Ohio 56,Wright State 54
The Ohio Bobcats advanced to the third round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament with a 56-54 victory on Saturday over Wright State.
Maurice Ndour hit two free throws for the Bobcats with his team holding a narrow 54-52 lead with less than 20 seconds left in the game that extended the lead to 56-52. Ndour was just 2-of-4 from the free-throw line on the day.
Ohio (25-11) was led offensively by Javarez Willis, who had 21 points, including hitting 5-of-6 from 3-point range. No other Bobcats player reached double-digits.
The leading scorer for Wright State (21-15) was AJ Pacher, who had 16 points, while Matt Vest had 13.
Columbia 69, Eastern Michigan 56
After Eastern Michigan and Columbia battled to a 28-28 at halftime, it was the Lions (21-12) who erupted in the second half.
Columbia went on to outscore the Eagles (22-15) 41-28 in the second half to coast to the 69-56 victory.
Eastern Michigan guard Ray Lee led all scorers in the game with 26 points, while the Lions had four players in double figures led by Alex Rosenberg and Maodo Lo each scoring 15.
Amedeo Della Valle leaves ohio state to play pro ball
COLUMBUS -- Ohio State coach Thad Matta has announced that sophomore guard Amedeo Della Valle is leaving the team to play professional ball in Europe.
Della Valle, from Alba, Italy, notified the Buckeyes staff of his decision on Saturday. Della Valle averaged 3.6 points a game over two seasons at Ohio State.
