Akron RubberDucks open new era with victory behind Urshela's big night

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. -- The rebranded Akron RubberDucks got their new era off on the right foot Thursday, opening the 2014 season with a 7-1 victory over the Binghamton Mets.

RubberDucks third baseman Giovanny Urshela went 3-for-4 with a home run, double and four RBI on the night. Urshela's home run leading off the fourth inning gave Akron the lead for good at 2-1, and his two-out, two-run double in the seventh made it 4-1.

Urshela tacked on an RBI single in the ninth as the RubberDucks added three insurance runs in the inning.

Akron starter Cody Anderson (1-0) got the win, allowing one earned run on four hits, three walks and two strikeouts in six innings of work.
