Binghampton holds off late rally by RubberDucks

The Akron Rubber ucks' ninth inning rally fell just short in a 5-4 loss at Binghampton on Sunday.

The RubberDucks scored twice in the ninth to get within a run and had the tying run in scoring position with two outs, but Ronny Rodriguez struck out to end the game.

Joe Wendle had three singles, while Rodriguez and Jake Lowery had a double and an RBI each for Akron.

Starting pitcher Will Roberts took the loss, allowing three runs (2 earned) on seven hits with a walk and two strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work.

The RubberDucks (2-2) will open a three-game series at Altoona tonight, then return for their home opener on Thursday at 6:35 p.m. against Bowie.
