Marvin Jones, a 6-foot-10, 190-pound power forward who played at Highland Community College in Illinois last season, has verbally committed to join the Kent State men's basketball program.

Jones averaged nine points, 7.9 rebounds and 1.9 blocks for a Highland CC squad that finished 27-8 and advanced to the 2014 Junior College Nationals, losing by two points to eventual champion Jones County. Highland also produced forward Anthony Simpson, a two-year letterman at KSU who averaged 9.2 points and 5.9 boards for a 2009-10 Golden Flashes squad that won 24 games.

Jones, who starred at Thornton High School in Harvey, Ill., was also being recruited by Southern Illinois and Bradley among others. He will have two years of eligibility at Kent State.

With the addition of Jones, the Flashes have used up their allotment of scholarships for next season.
