AKRON -- The Altoona Curve took an early lead over the Akron RubberDucks on Sunday afternoon en route to a 7-4 victory at Canal Park on the final day of the four-game series.

The Curve took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first when second- and third-hole hitters Alen Hanson and Mel Rojas Jr. shot back-to-back home runs off RubberDucks starting pitcher Will Roberts.

Altoona put another mark on the board in the third, with Stetson Allie driving Rojas home.

The Curve's momentum continued into the fourth with three runners crossing the plate, pushing their lead to 6-0 heading into the bottom of the fourth.

Akron's Joe Wendle responded, hitting a homer to right field in the bottom of the inning.

Wendle later scored the RubberDucks' second run of the game in the bottom of the sixth on a throwing error by Altoona's shortstop, Hanson. Later in the inning, Jordan Smith crossed the plate on an RBI double to center by Ronny Rodriguez to cut Akron's deficit to 6-3.

Altoona scored a run in the top of the seventh to go up 7-3, but the Ducks' Bryan LaHair chalked up an RBI in the bottom of the inning, driving home Tyler Naquin to cut the lead lead to 7-4.

However, that was a close as Akron could get the rest of the way.

Roberts was charged with the loss after throwing five innings for the RubberDucks, allowing six runs on 10 hits and striking out four batters.

Altoona starting pitcher A.J. Morris recorded the win. The right-hander pitched 5 2/3 innings, allowing five hits, three runs and four walks.

Quinton Miller earned the save for the Curve, retiring the RubberDucks in order in the bottom of the ninth.
