Streetsboro's Dakari Carter wins state championship in 100 meters

Streetsboro freshman Dakari Carter won the Division II state championship in the boys 100 meters on Saturday at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium.

Carter was faster than all runners in the finals with a time of 10.83. The second-fastest time was run by St. Clairsville senior Jaylon Brown at 10.90.

The Rockets' standout was the second Portage Trail Conference competitor to win a state championship on Saturday, with Garfield junior Edie Svonavec winning the Division II girls shot put earlier on Saturday morning.
