AKRON -- Cleveland Indians first baseman Nick Swisher, on a rehab assignment with the Akron RubberDucks, went 0-for-2 with a strikeout as the Ducks dropped the first game of a doubleheader to the Binghamton Mets, 8-1 in seven innings, on Tuesday at Canal Park.

Binghamton scored six runs in the top of the first inning, then added single tallies in each the second and third innings to lead 8-0.

Akron got its lone run in the bottom of the seventh on second baseman Joe Wendle's two-out RBI single.

The second game of the twinbill was not completed by the Record-Courier's press time Tuesday night.
