AKRON -- Second baseman Joe Wendle went 3-for-3 with three RBI as the Akron RubberDucks downed the Portland Sea Dogs 6-1 on Friday night at Canal Park.

Wendle delivered the big blow of the game when he ripped a two-run double as part of a three-run third inning that broke a 1-1 tie.

Akron took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first on designated hitter Alex Lavisky's two-out RBI single, followed by Wendle's two-run double in the third that made it 3-1. First baseman Bryan LaHair then drove Wendle home with an RBI single that made it 4-1.

The Ducks closed the scoring in the seventh on Wendle's sacrifice fly and another RBI single by LaHair, who finished the night 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Akron starter Will Roberts (6-7) got the win on the mound, giving up just the one run on six hits, no walks and four strikeouts in six innings of work.
