Kent State's Thomas, Delophont earn Second Team All-American honors at NCAA track championships

EUGENE, Ore. -- Kent State's track and field teams concluded the 2014 NCAA Division I National Outdoor Championships on Saturday at the University of Oregon's Hayward Field with two more athletes earning All-American accolades.

Danniel Thomas and Dior Delophont became Second Team All-Americans in the shot put and high jump, respectively.

Thomas, a First Team All-American in the discus, finished ninth in the women's shot put Saturday afternoon with a best mark of 55-1. Delophont placed 10th in the high jump at 5-10.75.

On Friday, sophomore Reggie Jagers took 19th in the discus with a top toss of 181-9.

Kent State finished the outdoor season with one national champion, Matthias Tayala in the hammer throw, two First Team All-Americans and three Second Team All-Americans.

The Flashes men's team finished in a tie for 24th overall with 10 points, while the women's squad tied for 32nd with a total of eight points. The

Texas A&M women's team won the national championship with 75 total points, while Oregon won the men's title with 88 points.
