NE Ohio native delivers 10th-inning HR in RubberDucks win

Alex Lavisky delivered for the Akron RubberDucks on Monday.

With Akron knotted in a 2-2 tie with the Trenton Thunder, the Ducks' catcher belted a two-run home run in the top of the 10th inning that titled the game in Akron's favor. For insurance purposes, Justin Toole added an RBI double for Akron to move the score to the eventual final of 5-2 in Trenton at Arm and Hammer Park.

Lavisky is a Lakewood native and played high school at St. Edward's.

The win for Akron was the team's six in its last eight games and keeps them in second place of the Western Division of the Eastern League with a record of 56-41. The Ducks are currently one game back of the Richmond Flying Squirrels (57-40), who come to Akron for a three-game series starting on July 21.

Kent State product Anthony Gallas got things started for Akron on Monday with an RBI single.

The RubberDucks posted another run in the fifth when Lavisky doubled down the left-field line, allowing Tim Fedroff to score.

Eastern League All-Star Joe Colon pitched the first five innings for the Ducks. Reliever Shawn Armstrong, another All-Star earned the win in relief.
