Akron RubberDucks down Erie SeaWolves behind former Kent State star Gallas

AKRON -- Former Kent State standout Anthony Gallas went 2-for-4 with a home run, double and two runs batted in to lead the Akron RubberDucks to a 5-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves on Thursday night at Canal Park.

The Ducks took command of the game with a four-run uprising in the bottom of the third inning. Tim Fedroff singled home the first run, followed by RBI singles by Francisco Lindor and Bryan LaHair and an RBI double by Gallas for the 4-0 advantage.

Akron went up 5-0 in the fifth on a two-out solo homer by Gallas.

Gallas, who plays right field for the RubberDucks, raised his batting average to a team-leading .352 for the season.

Adam Abraham and LaHair also went 2-for-4 at the plate for Akron.

Starter Will Roberts (10-9) pitched 61⁄3 innings to get the win for the Ducks, surrendering two runs (both earned) on six hits, no walks and one strikeout.

Elvis Araujo pitched the ninth inning for his first save of the season.

The RubberDucks improved to 57-41 on the season and sit one game behind the first-place Richmond Giants in the EL's Western Division.
