The Kent State field hockey team won a battle of Mid-American Conference unbeatens at Miami of Ohio on Friday, then pushed No. 7 Louisville to the limit on Sunday before falling by a goal.
The rematch of last year’s MAC Tournament championship game between the Golden Flashes and host RedHawks lived up to its billing. Shannon Talbot scored the game-winning goal as Kent State (9-6, 5-0 MAC) edged host Miami (8-6, 3-1) 2-1 in overtime, and defeating the RedHawks in double-overtime in last year’s MAC title tilt.
KSU clinched a share of the 2016 regular season MAC championship with Friday’s win and Ohio’s loss to Longwood on Sunday.
