Brimfield Lions Club provides services to community

Published:

The mission of the Brimfield Lions Club is to create and foster a spirit of understanding among all people for humanitarian needs by providing voluntary services through community involvement and international cooperation.

The Brimfield Lions Club was chartered in May 1957 and has been serving the Brimfield community ever since. The club meets at the Faith United Methodist Church in Brimfield on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month.

Some of the activities the group sponsors are done as fundraisers, some as support for others, and even some just for fun.

Money raised in the Brimfield community goes back into the community in many ways. Some of the activities include helping qualifying people receive eye care and glasses; giving scholarships to qualified Field High School seniors; sponsoring a Field High School student to go to Boys State through the Kent American Legion Post 496; raising money for diabetes education and supplies through community agencies through our Power Walk for Diabetes; awarding "GOOD" students for good school habits, and volunteering with the Brimfield Food Cupboard.

The group also supports many other Lions activities such as the Melvin Jones District 13D Lions Eye Care Foundation, the Ohio Lions Eye Research Foundation, the Ohio Lions Foundation, Sight, Hearing & Pilot Dogs, Camp Echoing Hills, Amigos, Lions Clubs International Foundation, the Ohio Lions Band and Lions diabetes programs. The Brimfield Lions also sell reflective house number signs that help emergency responders find locations. Visit the website for more information.

One of the group's major projects is raising money through "Pennies for a Pooch," which raises funds to purchase a pilot dog for the visually handicapped. The dogs and the training involved are about $9,500 each, so if you see one of the "Pennies for a Pooch" containers, please consider a donation.
