The Southeast Portage County Lions Club was chartered May 2010 and is made up of the townships forming the Southeast School District.
Our mission is to help those during times of need whether financial, health, eye care or disaster. The club meets on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. and the meeting starts at 7. Most of the money the group raises stays in the community with some going to Lions Club International to help with disasters around the world and here in the U.S.A. Some of the group's activities include monthly sock hops during the school year for students in third through eighth grade, selling of roses/carnations for Mother's Day, a food trailer at the Edinburg Auction, and, the newest fund raiser is a Dream Drawing.
Some of our activities include helping qualifying people to receive eye care and glasses, giving food baskets to one family in each township during the holidays with each of the group's members buying Christmas presents for those families, scholarships to a qualifying high school senior, donating baskets for raffles, along with many other activities.
April 26 the group will hold one of its biggest fundraisers -- the "Dream List," in which participants can win a new car. The group also have several other prizes that are valued between $300 and $500 that will be given away every ten minutes including cash, a whole hog wrapped and frozen, patio furniture and more. There also will be side boards, side raffle tables and a Chinese auction. For tickets or more information, call Roger at 330-607-3228 or visit our website http://e-clubhouse.org/sites/portagec/. The group also has a Facebook page in the works.
