The Classic Auto Group, Action Auto Body and Gateway Towing are sponsoring and hosting the annual Car and Bike Show July 27 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Streetsboro City Park in a grassy area. If it rains, the show would move to the Campus Elementary School parking lot.
Registration begins at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. and costs $15. The first 100 registered cars and the first 50 registered motorcycles will receive dash plaques. Seventy awards will be given out at the show.
"There's a huge array of vehicles," said Action Auto Body Owner Mark Thompson. "Anywhere from semis to bicycles -- lots of classic cars, lots of muscle cars, some race cars."
Thompson has sponsored and helped organize the show for years. He and some of his car shop employees are judging the vehicles this year. Judging will end at 1 p.m., and the award presentation will take place at 1:30 p.m.
Judging is broken down by the category of the vehicle and year, Thompson said. There are a number of items that are scored such as chrome, paint, interior, wheels and tires and more. Each item is rated from one to 10 with 10 being the best score. The vehicles with the most points accumulated win.
Thompson said '60s and '70s vehicles are the largest classes at the show.
"My son has a dirt stock car. We're going to take it," Thompson said. "But we're going to race late Saturday night, so we're going to take it there with the race track dirt and everything on it...But it'll be different because there's nothing there like that."
There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle at $1 each or $5 for eight tickets. The D.J. Is by Streetsboro's Capt. Dave Yanetsky and crew.
