Aliver Hall kicking off Jingle Jam at Kent Stage tonight

Kent jam rockers Aliver Hall are putting a heavy dose of talented Northeast Ohio bands in the spotlight for its third-annual Jingle Jam holiday concert, which begins tonight and runs through Friday.

The Aliver Hall-hosted Jingle Jam, which marked its first two years at The Outpost, has now expanded to a two-night run at The Kent Stage at 175 E. Main St., with eight bands sharing the stage between tonight and Friday night's shows.

Bassist and band manager Jim Garibaldi said the concept to expand the event came after a successful year for Aliver Hall on the road.

"Things have been picking up for us since the last Jingle Jam: We did a lot of festivals over the summer, we released the second CD, "Chasing the Rain," our shows have been growing and we've networked more," he said. "I had a list of about 10 bands to have on Jingle Jam, and we said, 'Let's do two nights and get all of our favorite bands on it.'"

But Aliver Hall isn't the only band on the two-night bill that's catching on regionally. Tonight's headliner Jones for Revival, Tropidelic, Boogie Matrix and The Stagecoach Robbery have each been hard at work touring the region and growing their fan bases in the process. Up and comers The Bees Trees, Yosemight and Dave Hammer's Power Supply each have a commanding stage presence as well.

"It's a collection of bands that we really like working and playing with," Garibaldi said. "It'll be a very good, friendly night."

The doors open at 8 p.m. tonight, with The Bees Trees performing at 9 p.m., Dave Hammer's Power Supply at 10 p.m., Tropidelic at 11 p.m. and Jones for Revival headlining at 12 a.m.

On Friday, the doors open at 7 p.m., with Yosemight opening at 8 p.m., The Stagecoach Robbery at 9 p.m., Boogie Matrix at 10 p.m. and Aliver Hall, the band behind it all, hitting the stage at 11 p.m.

Tickets cost $8 for one night, or $12 for a pass to both nights.

The band is also working out a hotel deal, which will be posted at The Kent Stage tonight, along with shuttle information.
