Calling all folk players. If you are looking for plans to extend your weekend fun, two entertaining folk performers will take the stage in Kent this week.

Gratiot Lake Road to play at Checkers and Trophies

Folk band Gratiot Lake Road describes their sound as contemplative, carefully crafted folk tunes.

The band recently toured the Midwest over the summer, and they just couldn't get enough of it. They are coming back to the Midwest and east coast for a tour March 8 through 18.

Gratiot Lake Road will perform at 9 p.m. on Monday at Checkers and Trophies, 352 W. Elm St. Also playing is Ian Penter.

The Kent Stage welcomes Sara Watkins

Acclaimed singer, songwriter and fiddle player Sara Watkins will perform her second solo album, "Sun Midnight Sun" Wednesday at the Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St.

The sounds of Watkins' wistful, self-penned ballads will capture audiences and have them begging for more.

The show will start at 8 p.m. Tickets are $15. Hurry, there's only six more days to get your tickets.
