Whether it's jamming out with one of the top national Beatles tribute groups or dancing the night away with Kent's Dance Ensemble, there is always something exciting to fill your weekend plans in Kent.
Hard Day's Night invades Kent
Northeastern Ohio's Beatles tribute band, Hard Day's Night, returns to the Kent Stage, 175 E. Main St., with a whole new show.
Hard Day's Night will open the show wearing suits from the Beatlemania years. The new part of the show will feature Sgt. Pepper suits and a new fourth costume for the Abbey Road look.
For 17 years, Hard Day's Night has been entertaining Beatles fans across the country. The band was even invited to play in Liverpool, England, at the world-famous Cavern Club, the original home of The Beatles.
Frank Muratore as Paul; Michael Muratore as John; John Auker as George; and Pat Gannon as Ringo will invade the Kent Stage at 8 p.m. Saturday.
Tickets are $15. All ages are welcome. For more information, call 330-677-5005 or visit kentstage.com.
What's your view on the Kent Dance Ensemble? On April 5, 6 and 7, check out the Kent Dance Ensemble's annual main stage concert, "NEW VIEW."
"NEW VIEW" is a dance concert of jazz and modern dances choreographed by four Kent State University faculty members and New York City guest artist Linda Nutter. The evening will take the audience through whimsical, sophisticated, quirky and vigorous dances.
This season, sixth-grade music students from Defer Intermediate School in Streetsboro will join the pre-professional student dance company for a special treat. Emerging unexpectedly from the audience, the Defer Dancers will approach the stage and perform short creative dances of their own derision.
Come slither, slide, float and glide with KSU's top dancers.
Performances are at 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday and at 2 p.m. Sunday. The concert will be performed in E. Turner Stump Theatre, located in the Music and Speech Building at 1325 Theatre Drive in Kent. A complimentary reception will take place Friday following the performance.
To reserve tickets, call the Performing Arts Box Office at 330-672-2787. Tickets are $16; $14 for KSU faculty, staff and Alumni Association members; $12 for seniors; and $8 for non-KSU students.
